About Rep. Current
Dr. William A. Current, Sr. (Bill) was born and raised in the 109th District of Gastonia and has lived his entire life in the Victory (Lingerfeldt) school precinct. He and his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth, have raised three daughters, Libby, Sally, and Ange, and one son, Will. In addition, Liz and Bill have nine wonderful grandchildren.
Dr. Current graduated from Gastonia High School before attending NC State and UNC-Chapel Hill to earn his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees. After completing dental school and a tour in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps, Dr. Current joined the family dental practice, which was founded in 1923. Running a private dental practice allowed Dr. Current to see first-hand the pressures on a small business owner.
Throughout his career, Dr. Current has remained an active community leader and leader in his profession.
